Reporting Forwarded Email as Spam

If you use our email forwarding service and report a forwarded message as spam or junk in your destination mailbox (Outlook, Hotmail, Gmail, etc.), we will make a best effort to unsubscribe you from that sender on your behalf.

How It Works

  1. You receive a forwarded email in your personal mailbox
  2. You click "Report Junk" or "Report Spam" in your mail client
  3. Your mail provider sends an abuse complaint back to us
  4. We make a best effort to unsubscribe your forwarding address from that sender

In most cases this will stop future email from that sender reaching your forwarding address. However, we cannot guarantee that all senders will honor the unsubscribe request — some senders may continue to send email regardless.

Important Notes

  • Unsubscribing is better than reporting spam. If the email has an "Unsubscribe" link, please use it. This tells the sender directly to stop emailing you and is the most reliable way to stop unwanted email.
  • Reporting spam is a best-effort process. We will attempt to unsubscribe you, but not all senders provide a way for us to do this automatically. If a sender does not support automated unsubscribe, the email may continue.
  • Transactional emails are not affected. Password resets, account notifications, and security alerts will continue to be forwarded, as these are critical communications you may need.

What If Unwanted Email Continues?

If you continue to receive unwanted email after reporting it as spam, please contact our support team with the sender's email address and we will investigate further options.

What If I Want to Receive That Email Again?

Since we unsubscribe you directly with the sender, you will need to contact the sender or vendor directly to be added back to their mailing list. This is not something we can reverse on our end.

Why Do We Do This?

When you report forwarded email as spam, the complaint is sent to our servers because we are the forwarding relay. Repeated spam complaints can affect the reputation of our mail servers, which impacts delivery for all of our users. By attempting to unsubscribe you from complained-about senders, we protect your inbox and our infrastructure at the same time.
